Research Trips

As part of the Webber Family Preservation Project’s Mellon Foundation–funded research, we have conducted three research trips to Mexican archives and Afro-Mexican communities to uncover additional evidence of Freedom Fighters who self-emancipated in Mexican spaces. Our findings will be published in our digital archive in Fall 2026. Below are photographs of the archives, places, and communities we have visited during our research.
